Metropolitan Museum of Art  

            The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in 1870 by a group of American citizens, businessmen and financiers, as well as leading artists and thinkers of the day. They wanted to create a museum to bring art and art education to the American people.

One of the world’s largest and finest art museums, the Museum's collections include more than two million works of art spanning 5,000 years of world culture, from prehistory to the present and from every part of the globe. Works on view include seminal examples of American Art, Asian Art, Ancient Near Eastern Art, Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, clothing from the Costume Institute, Egyptian Art, European Paintings and Decorative Arts, Greek and Roman Art, Islamic Art, Musical Instruments and 20th-Century Art, among many others.


Other major areas of the collection are French and English furniture and silver, Italian majolica and French and German porcelain. Architectural settings and period rooms range from the 16th-century patio from the castle of Velez Blanco, Spain; to the Wrightsman Rooms, with several salons from 18th-century French houses; and the Annie Laurie Aitken Galleries, a suite of English interiors.

Location: The Metropolitan Museum is located at 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street, on the eastern edge of Central Park.

New York City Opera

Founded in 1946, New York City Opera established affordable ticket prices and a commitment to education and outreach, which have all made opera more popular and accessible to a wide audience. Joyce Theater

The mission of The Joyce Theater Foundation is to serve and support the art of dance and choreography, to promote the richness and variety of the art form in its fullest expression, and to enhance the public interest in, and appreciation of, dance and the allied arts of music, design and theater.

The Joyce serves a broad-based national international dance community and its audiences by providing: an affordable, state-of-the-art performance venue; an informal rehearsal/performance venue with subsidized programs; optimal technical, administrative, and financial support for dance companies; and educational programs that enhance the public’s understanding and appreciation of dance. Today, The Joyce is considered one of the premier performance venues for dance and attracts an annual audience of more than 140,000.

Museum of Modern Art  

Founded in 1929, the Museum of Modern Art was the first museum to devote its programs and collection entirely to the modern movement, and the quality and diversity of the Museum’s collection offers an unparalleled overview of modern and contemporary art. The collection encompasses more than 100,000 works in a variety of mediums, divided into six collecting areas: architecture and design; drawings; film and video; painting and sculpture; photography and prints; and illustrated books. The works in the collection date from the 1840s for photography and from the 1880s to the present day for other media.

Metropolitan Opera 

From its opening in 1883, the Metropolitan Opera has been one of the world's leading opera companies. Today, the it’s prestige position rests on the elements that established its reputation: high quality performances with many of the world’s most renowned artists, a superior company of orchestral and choral musicians, a large repertory of works, and the resources to make performances available to the public.

Each season the Metropolitan stages more than two hundred performances of opera in New York. Be sure to get your tickets!

Merkin Concert Hall

This concert hall is where you can hear an acclaimed string quartet, live jazz, an internationally renowned soprano, and a cutting-edge electronic ensemble all in the same week. Many of the most interesting concerts in New York City take place on the stage of Merkin Concert Hall, a 457-seat theater just north of Lincoln Center. The Hall is a favorite venue for classical chamber music, vocal and instrumental recitals, as well as a popular performance space for jazz, cabaret, world and new music of all kinds. More than 200 events take place at Merkin Hall each year.

New Victory Theater

The New Victory Theater, a New 42nd Street project, is New York City's first year-round theater for kids and families.
