Set aside time, every day, for yourself. It is important that you have some time to yourself every day to do anything you want without any disruptions. Having quiet time can be peaceful and allow you to reflect on everything that is going on in your life. You can also use this time to get work done, or simply use the time to sit and enjoy the peacefulness of the quiet. Other suggestions include meditating, yoga, being outside, taking a warm bath, or any activity that brings you inward peace. Slowing down our hectic and fast-paced lives helps bring balance and calms us down.

Resist criticizing others. Judging or criticizing others is what contributes to anger, distrust, and lack of self-confidence, in this world. Before you begin to criticize someone, ask yourself, “Do I like to be criticized?” If you have nothing better to talk about than criticizing others, you should consider working on this bad habit. Having the need to be critical is something to be ashamed of. Try to turn your criticism into tolerance and respect.

Do One Thing at a Time. Many people believe multitasking is the best way to get many tings done at once. Ever been on the freeway and seen someone talking on their cell phone, driving, while fixing their hair, changing lanes, and drinking coffee. Maybe when you are cleaning up your house you find yourself doing four chores simultaneously. Or while talking to someone you find yourself thinking about what you have to do later. It is good to finish more than one task in a day but when you try to do all of them at once it becomes hard to be in the present moment. Then you may also lose enjoyment in what you are doing, as well as become less focused and overall, effective. When we focus on doing one thing at a time we can become absorbed in it, enjoy it more, and can complete the activity quicker.
